The 11th edition of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup will be hosted in Colombia between 31st August to 22nd September in 2022.
FIFA has officially confirmed that the draw for the tournament will take place on Wednesday, 5th June in Bogotá at 15:00 GMT. The event will take place at Hall 74 Centro de Eventos in the Colombian capital.
Host Cities for the tournament are Bogotá, Cali and Medellín, confirmed by FIFA.
It will be the first time 24 nations will be competing in the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup as the last edition was contested by 16 teams.
Defending champions Spain are expected to be seeded alongside host Colombia.
Ghana, Nigeria, Morocco and Cameroon are the four countries that qualifiedrd from Africa.
The other 20 participating teams will be Argentina, Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, Fiji, France, Germany, Japan, Korea DPR, Korea Republic, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Paraguay, Spain, USA and Venezuela.
The host of the draw will be Jaime Yarza, FIFA Director of Tournaments.
This will be the third FIFA tournament held in the South American nation after the FIFA U-20 World Cup 2011 and the FIFA Futsal World Cup 2016. Furthermore, it will be the second edition of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup organised in the CONMEBOL region, after Chile hosted the event in 2008.
Again, it will be the third time that Colombia has hosted a FIFA tournament and the first time of hosting a FIFA women’s tournament.
