Ghana’s Black Queens will face a challenging hurdle in the third round of qualifiers for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, as they are set to clash with Zambia.
The Ghanaian women’s national team advanced to the next round of qualifiers following a comprehensive 5-0 aggregate victory over Benin on Tuesday. After securing a 3-0 victory in the first leg in Cotonou against their West African counterparts, the Black Queens comfortably handled their opponents in Accra, sealing a 2-0 win.
Evelyn Badu scored in the 65th minute to open the scoring, and a late own goal ensured Ghana’s continued pursuit of qualification for women’s football at the Olympic Games.
However, their next challenge is expected to be formidable, as they will be facing Zambia, who participated in the 2023 World Cup.
