Former Asante Kotoko defender Samuel Inkoom has expressed his desire to return to the club before retiring from professional football. The 34-year-old is currently a free agent after the conclusion of his contract with Hearts of Oak in the 2022/23 league season.
As the January transfer window approaches, Inkoom has expressed his hope to have the opportunity to don the Asante Kotoko jersey once again.
“I have always said that I will play for Kotoko again before I retire. It is my wish. I signed a one-year deal with Hearts of Oak, and now the contract has ended. But I wish to play for Kotoko again before I quit the game,” said Samuel Inkoom during an interview on Fox FM.
Inkoom originally joined Asante Kotoko in 2008 from Sekondi Hasaacas and later left the Ghanaian football powerhouse in April 2009 to join FC Basel in the Swiss Super League on a three-year contract. During his time with Asante Kotoko, he contributed to the club’s success, helping them secure the 2007/2008 Ghana Premier League season, the President’s Cup in 2008, and the SWAG Cup in 2008.
Samuel Inkoom is also a former member of the Black Satellites, having played a crucial role in their victory at the 2009 African Youth Championship in Rwanda. He was also part of the Black Satellite team that triumphed over Brazil in a penalty shootout, securing the cup for Africa and Ghana for the first time in the under-20 tournament in 2009.
Inkoom made his debut for the Ghana senior national team, the Black Stars, in November 2008 against Tunisia and went on to earn 44 caps for Ghana, scoring one goal while playing as a right-back.
