Isaac Afful, FC Samartex’s talented left-back, has received his first call-up to the Black Stars, marking a pivotal moment in his football career.
Afful has been a standout player for his club, playing a key role in Samartex’s impressive Ghana Premier League performance last season.
His stellar form in the domestic league, combined with his contributions to Samartex’s CAF Champions League campaign, caught the attention of Black Stars head coach Otto Addo, earning him a spot in the national team.
Afful’s call-up comes as Ghana prepares for crucial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Sudan. The Black Stars will begin camping on Monday in anticipation of the back-to-back fixtures, with the first match set for October 10, 2024, at the Accra Sports Stadium. The second leg will follow in Benina, Libya, on October 15.
With Ghana currently third in their group, the upcoming qualifiers are must-win games as the Black Stars push to secure a place in the 2025 AFCON tournament in Morocco.
