Ghana’s Black Stars head coach, Otto Addo, has expressed concerns about the availability of AJ Auxerre midfielder Elisha Owusu for the upcoming 2025 AFCON qualifier against Angola.
The match is scheduled for Thursday, September 14, at the Baba Yara Stadium, with kickoff set for 16:00 GMT.
During a pre-match press conference, Addo provided updates on the squad’s preparations, highlighting late arrivals to the camp, including Elisha Owusu and Leicester City forward Jordan Ayew. Addo revealed that Owusu is dealing with a muscular issue, casting doubt on his participation in the crucial fixture.
“I hope they will be okay, especially with Elisha, who has some muscle problems. After training, the doctor will assess them and see how they are feeling. So, there is a bit of a question mark, to be honest, but we hope it will be okay, especially with Elisha,” Addo stated.
Ghana is aiming to secure one of the top two spots in Group F to ensure qualification for the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.
With Sudan and Niger also vying for a place in the tournament, the match against Angola is a critical step in the Black Stars’ journey.
