Ghana head coach Otto Addo has called on his players to remain focused as they prepare to face Niger in their second Group F match of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers at the Stade Municipal de Berkane later today.
The Black Stars are determined to bounce back after suffering a surprising 1-0 defeat to Angola in their opening qualifier at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium last Thursday.
Despite being favorites for today’s game, Addo emphasized the importance of not underestimating their opponents.
“This game, we are surely the favourites, and I am very, very confident that we will win,” the 45-year-old coach stated. “But in football, anything can happen. We saw it last time against Angola. The way the game looked, I never thought we would lose. But nowadays, there is no weak opponent.”
Addo further stressed the need for focus and discipline: “We have to be focused, we have to be concentrated, and we have to do our job. Then the probability that we win is very, very high.”
Ghana will be looking to secure their first victory in the qualifiers and get their campaign back on track. The match against Niger is set to kick off at 16:00 GMT.
