Angola national team head coach, Pedro Gonçalves has expressed his hope for a fair game when his side takes on Ghana in the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Speaking to Ghanasportspage.com, Gonçalves recalled the last encounter between the two teams in Kumasi, which he felt was marred by controversy.
“I guess we have our chances this time,” Gonçalves said. “I hope we will have a good game in Kumasi because the last time, a lot of things happened, so I hope CAF opens their eyes. A lot happened, and Ghana doesn’t need to be in that situation. I am hoping for a fair match, and in the end, we will see who’s going to win.”
The two nations are set to face each other twice in the group stage of the 2025 AFCON qualifiers, with Ghana hosting the first leg in September and Angola hosting the return leg in November 2024.
The Black Stars will be looking to build on their previous success against Angola, having won 1-0 in the first leg of their 2023 AFCON qualifiers match before drawing 1-1 in the second leg.
