Black Stars forward Brandon Thomas-Asante has expressed the team’s determination to secure victories in their upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Angola and Niger.
Ghana is set to face Angola on Thursday, September 5, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, marking their opening match of the qualifiers. Four days later, they will travel to Morocco to take on Niger in what promises to be another challenging encounter.
Thomas-Asante, who made his debut for Ghana in June 2024 during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, has once again been called up for national duty. The former West Bromwich Albion forward played a key role in Ghana’s victory against the Central African Republic in Kumasi, contributing to the Black Stars’ quest to qualify for the World Cup in the USA, Mexico, and Canada.
Reflecting on his inclusion in the squad and the upcoming AFCON qualifiers, Thomas-Asante shared his enthusiasm and focus. “I’m always excited to come to the camp,” he said after the team’s first training session in Accra on Monday. “Like last time, we won two games, so we want to do the same again. But we always keep our heads high and work towards the next game.”
As the Black Stars gear up for these crucial matches, Thomas-Asante’s positive mindset and commitment will be vital as Ghana aims to start their AFCON qualifying campaign on a strong note.
