Coventry City forward Brandon Thomas-Asante is urging his Black Stars teammates to maintain a positive mindset as they prepare for their pivotal 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Angola and Niger.
The Black Stars will first host Angola’s Palancas Negras at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi on Thursday, September 5, before traveling to Berkane, Morocco, to face Niger on September 9, 2025, at a neutral venue.
Ghana began their preparations for these crucial matches on Monday at the Accra Sports Stadium and have since moved to Kumasi to finalize their training sessions.
Speaking to the media, Thomas-Asante emphasized the importance of staying focused and upbeat. “Like last time, we won two games, so we want to do the same this time. We are keeping our heads up and working towards the next game,” said the former West Bromwich Albion forward.
As of now, Leicester City striker Jordan Ayew and Auxerre midfielder Elisha Owusu are the only players yet to report to the Black Stars camp. The team is expected to wrap up their preparations with a final training session at the Baba Yara Stadium on Wednesday evening.
With the stakes high, Thomas-Asante’s call for positivity and focus will be crucial as Ghana aims to secure important victories in their AFCON qualifying campaign.
