Angola head coach Pedro Goncalves is optimistic about his team’s prospects as they prepare to face Ghana in the opening match of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
The crucial encounter is scheduled to take place on September 5 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, marking the start of the qualification campaign for the next AFCON tournament, which will be hosted by Morocco.
In a pre-match press conference, Coach Goncalves acknowledged the strength of the Ghanaian side, led by Otto Addo, noting their tactical flexibility.
“Otto Addo gives Ghana more flexibility in formation, they can play in a line of five in the back or play in the line of four. “I think Ghana is stronger right now, but we are also much stronger,” coach Pedro Goncalves said.
As both teams prepare for this important clash, Goncalves remains confident in Angola’s ability to challenge Ghana and make a strong start in the qualifiers.
