Badreldin Ibrahim, a Legal and Regulatory Officer of the Sudanese Football Federation, has mentioned that the upcoming clash against the Black Stars in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers will be a test of professionalism for Kwesi Appiah.
Ghana are set to compete in Group F alongside Sudan, Angola, and Niger in the qualifiers, with the top two teams from each group securing spots in the tournament hosted by Morocco.
Kwesi Appiah, a former player and coach of the Black Stars, now leads Sudan’s national team, sparking discussions about potential conflicts of interest. He also doubles as an Executive Council member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA)
Speaking to Angel TV, Badreldin Ibrahim acknowledged the unique situation but expressed confidence in Appiah’s ability to handle it professionally.
“The conflict is there, but it is a unique and emotionally charged situation for Kwesi Appiah,” Ibrahim said. “Playing against Ghana in the AFCON qualifiers is a test of Coach Kwasi Appiah’s professionalism and his commitment to the Sudanese Football Federation.”
He added, “He has very good experience that he can bring to the table, which can be advantageous for us, but it will be proven when we see the results and performance. But the conflict is there.”
The AFCON qualifiers are scheduled to commence in September later this year.
