Heart of Lions will be hoping to end their difficult run of form when they host Bechem United at the Kpando Stadium on Sunday in a crucial Ghana Premier League Matchday Nine encounter.
The Kpando-based side head into the fixture under pressure after suffering three consecutive defeats in the league, with their latest setback coming in a heartbreaking 2-1 loss to Gold Stars SC last weekend.
Despite taking the lead in that encounter, Heart of Lions conceded a late goal in stoppage time to leave them empty-handed.
The result extended their poor run and left them 15th on the league table with eight points from eight matches. The team has recorded four defeats so far this season, scoring eight goals while conceding 12.
Their home form has also been inconsistent, with the Lions managing just one victory, two goalless draws and one defeat in their four matches at the Kpando Stadium.
However, the hosts will take confidence from their recent home record against Bechem United, having won two of their last three league meetings with the Hunters in Kpando.
Bechem United, meanwhile, travel to Kpando with renewed confidence after returning to winning ways with an emphatic 3-0 victory over newly promoted Debibi United last weekend.
The convincing result moved the Hunters into sixth position on the table with 13 points after eight matches.
Bechem United have enjoyed a relatively positive campaign so far, recording four wins, one draw and three defeats. They have scored 11 goals and conceded nine in their opening eight league games.
Despite their strong overall performance, their away form remains a major concern. The Hunters are yet to win on the road this season, having managed only one draw and suffered three defeats in their four away matches.
Heart of Lions will be desperate for a positive result to move away from the danger zone, while Bechem United will look to build on their recent victory and secure their first away win of the campaign.
With both sides having plenty to prove, Sunday’s encounter at the Kpando Stadium promises to be a fiercely contested battle.
