Medeama SC’s rising star, Prince Owusu, has earned his first-ever call-up to the Black Stars ahead of Ghana’s upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against the Central African Republic and Comoros.
The 20-year-old midfielder has been one of the standout performers in the Ghana Premier League, catching the attention of national team coach Otto Addo with his consistency and maturity on the ball.
Owusu featured in 22 league matches last season, contributing one goal and two assists, while also playing a key role in Medeama’s midfield with his relentless energy, strong tackling, and tactical discipline. His efforts were vital in helping the Mauve and Yellow remain competitive throughout the campaign.
This season, he has already made two appearances, showing the same level of commitment and form that has now opened the doors to the senior national team.
Owusu will now join a competitive Black Stars midfield that includes established names such as Thomas Partey and Mohammed Kudus, but he is expected to add depth, youthful energy, and versatility.
Ghana will face Central African Republic on October 8 in Morocco before returning home to play Comoros on October 12 at the Accra Sports Stadium. For Owusu, these fixtures could mark the beginning of a promising international career.
His call-up also highlights the Black Stars’ ongoing recognition of homegrown talent, ensuring the Ghana Premier League continues to serve as a direct pathway to the national team.
