Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum, has confirmed that Otto Addo will announce his final Black Stars squad for the 2026 World Cup on June 1.

Ghana has been housed in Group I alongside Panama, England and Croatia for the tournament, which will be co-hosted by the USA, Canada and Mexico next summer.

Speaking on Asempa FM, Asante Twum confirmed that all qualified teams have been tasked to release their provisional squad on April 11, while the final squad for the tournament must be announced on June 1.

“All qualified teams, including the Black Stars of Ghana, are mandated by FIFA to announce their provisional squad on April 11, 2026. The final squads for the tournament must be announced before midnight on June 1, 2026.”

Asante Twum further said that every Ghanaian player who is playing and competing will have a chance to earn a call-up ahead of the tournament.

“Every Ghanaian player with a strong performance is closely monitored by the technical team, and regardless of where they play, they will be given a call-up.”

Ghana will begin their campaign against Panama on June 17 in Toronto, before travelling to Boston for the meeting with England on June 23.

The Black Stars’ final group match comes against Croatia on June 27 in Philadelphia.

Meanwhile, the Black Stars will play Germany in a n international friendly on 30th March, 2026  in Stuttgart as part of preperations for the global showpiece.

The friendly match forms part of preparations for both countries in the lead-up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Mexico, Canada, and the United States of America. Ghana is coached by Hamburg-born Otto Addo, a former Bundesliga professional and 15-time Ghana international who won the German championship with Borussia Dortmund in 2002.

Germany head coach Julian Nagelsmann said, “We are very much looking forward to the clash with Otto’s team. Their strong transition play can give us a taste of what to expect in the World Cup group match against Ivory Coast.”

Black Stars Coach Otto Addo is also looking ahead to the match. “This is an amazing opportunity for us to test ourselves against one of the best teams in the world. Germany are a good side, and we can’t wait to face them in Stuttgart.”

Ghana qualified convincingly as group winners for the 2026 World Cup and will compete in Group L against England, Croatia, and Panama. The four-time African champions have faced Germany three times before.

In their first friendly in Bochum in 1993, Germany won 6–1. Two further encounters came at World Cups: in 2010 in South Africa, Germany prevailed 1–0 in the group stage, while their second group-stage meeting at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil ended in a 2–2 draw.

The match is scheduled for an 8:45 pm kickoff on Monday, March 30, 2026.
