Ghana star Mohammed Kudus has downplayed any fear and instead embraced excitement after the Black Stars were drawn against England, Croatia and Panama in Group L for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Speaking after the draw, the Tottenham Hotspur playmaker said Ghana’s qualification alone sends a strong message about the team’s growing stature on the global stage.
“To qualify for the World Cup alone is a big statement from us and shows what we can do,” Kudus noted, emphasising the significance of securing a spot at the tournament.
He added that there is still time before the World Cup begins, saying: “There’s still a bit of time until that, so we just focus here for now and then definitely we’ll prepare towards that.”

Looking ahead to the clash with England, Kudus described the fixture as an exciting test.
“It’ll be interesting, I’m looking forward to it. Playing against most of the players in the country here and some of the other guys that play here as well, we are pretty much aware of the side we are facing and the quality they have. But we will definitely be up for it and will be ready,” he said.
The England matchup is expected to generate global attention while giving Kudus the chance to meet familiar teammates, rivals and Premier League stars on the World Cup stage.
