Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku has insisted that it would be a mistake to dismiss Ghana’s chances at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
According to him, the Black Stars have the quality to compete with any team at the tournament.
Speaking on the Delay Show, Okraku emphasised that football history is full of surprises, where underdogs have gone on to achieve remarkable success while favourites have sometimes fallen short.
He argued that Ghana belongs in the conversation of potential contenders, given the strength of the current squad and ongoing preparations.
“I have seen bad teams win big tournaments, I have also seen good teams lose big tournaments, and I have seen good teams win big tournaments. So, you can never rule out any football nation, Ghana inclusive. We have a good team, and I want to win the World Cup. That is why we are doing everything possible,” Kurt Okraku said.
Ghana will be one of 48 nations participating in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Black Stars have been drawn into Group L, where they will face England, Croatia and Panama in what is expected to be a highly competitive group.
Despite the tough opposition, expectations remain high among supporters who believe the team can produce a strong performance on the world stage.
