Ghana’s Black Stars delivered a dominant performance, securing a 5-0 victory over Chad in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The emphatic win propelled Ghana to the top of Group I with 12 points, keeping them firmly on course for qualification.

The Black Stars wasted no time asserting their dominance, opening the scoring in the second minute through Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo, who pounced on a rebound.

Inaki Williams doubled the lead in the 32nd minute, heading home a pinpoint cross from Kingsley Schindler. Two minutes before halftime, captain Jordan Ayew made it 3-0 from the penalty spot after Semenyo was fouled in the box.

Ghana maintained their attacking intensity in the second half. Monaco defender Mohammed Salisu extended the lead, nodding in an Ernest Nuamah corner. Nuamah then sealed the rout in the 69th minute, finishing off a well-placed pass from Ayew.

Coach Otto Addo named a strong starting lineup featuring Thomas Partey, Mohammed Kudus, and Salisu, all of whom impressed. Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare made his international debut but had little to do as Chad rarely threatened. Cercle Brugge midfielder Lawrence Agyekum also earned his first cap, replacing Partey in the second half.

With this victory, Ghana now shifts focus to a crucial clash against Madagascar on Monday in Morocco. A win would solidify their position at the top of Group I and bring them closer to securing a spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Chad, still winless in the qualifiers, will face Comoros in their next match.
