Black Stars goalkeeper Jojo Wollacott acknowledges the competitive nature of the World Cup qualifiers but expresses the team’s preparedness for victory in their first two games.
Returning to the squad after missing the 2022 World Cup due to injury, Wollacott is ready for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Ghana is set to face Madagascar on Friday, November 17, at the Baba Yara Stadium, followed by a match against Comoros four days later at the Stade de Moroni.
Upon arriving in Ghana, Wollacott shares with Sahara Football, “It feels very good to be back. I was struggling with injury, but I feel good and happy to be back.”
When asked about the expected difficulty of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, the goalkeeper remarks, “If you remember the last time, it was a difficult journey, and we know what to expect, so we are taking these games very seriously. But I am sure we will get the victories.”
The Black Stars, having left Accra for Kumasi on Tuesday, conducted their first training session behind closed doors. The team is scheduled for a second training session later today without fans. The Ghana vs. Madagascar game is set to kick off at 16:00 GMT.
