Asante Kotoko head coach Prosper Ogum has called on Ghanaians to rally behind the Black Stars as they prepare for a must-win 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Chad.
In a passionate appeal, Ogum emphasized the importance of national unity, reminding fans that the Black Stars represent the pride and aspirations of the country.
“All over the world, every nation has one national team. What we have as Ghanaians is the Black Stars. I want to use this opportunity to call on Ghanaians to rally behind the Black Stars,” he told Kotoko’s media team.
Ghana currently sits second in Group I with nine points, trailing leaders Madagascar by a single point, though Madagascar has played an extra match. A victory against Chad today, March 21, at the Accra Sports Stadium would put the Black Stars in a strong position ahead of their away fixture against Madagascar on March 24 in Morocco.
These two matches are pivotal for Ghana’s World Cup qualification hopes, especially after the disappointment of missing out on the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. Following a frustrating campaign that saw them finish bottom of their AFCON qualifying group, the Black Stars are under pressure to restore faith among fans.
A win today would provide a crucial boost as Ghana looks to stay on course for a return to the World Cup.
