Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has expressed his satisfaction with the improved condition of the Accra Sports Stadium pitch ahead of Ghana’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Chad on Friday.
The coach had previously raised concerns about the playing surface during Ghana’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying matches at the venue in 2024. However, with significant improvements made to the pitch, Addo is now confident that his team will benefit from the better playing conditions.
“I’m very happy that the pitch looks much, much better. For me, this is very important,” Addo said during his pre-match press conference on Friday. “I think now we are on a good path, and I know that we will create a lot of chances and the goals will come.”
Ghana will face Chad on Friday, March 21, at the Accra Sports Stadium, with Addo’s side looking to secure a vital win to strengthen their position in Group I of the World Cup qualifiers.
