Black Stars’ head coach, Otto Addo, has pledged to enhance his team’s goal-scoring capabilities in preparation for the upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers amidst criticism from fans regarding their recent struggles in creating and converting chances.
Addressing the media at the GFA headquarters, Addo acknowledged the team’s deficiencies and assured that they would be diligently worked upon.
“We will work on our goal-scoring. Every game is different, but we will try our best to ensure we score more goals,” he said.
The Black Stars are poised to commence their training camp on Thursday at the University of Ghana Stadium in Legon, gearing up for the crucial qualifying matches. Currently positioned 4th in Group I, Ghana has recorded one win and one loss in their initial two matches.
Commencing their campaign with a narrow 1-0 triumph over Madagascar in Kumasi, they subsequently faced a setback with a 1-0 defeat to Comoros in Moroni.
The impending qualifier against Mali is scheduled for Thursday, June 6, 2024, at Stade 26 Mars in Bamako, commencing at 19:00. Following this, Ghana will clash with the Central African Republic at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Monday, June 10, 2024.
Addo unveiled his squad for the forthcoming matches during the press conference, expressing optimism that his team could secure victories in both encounters, thereby augmenting their prospects of qualifying for the World Cup, slated to be hosted in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
