Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has stressed that Leicester City’s fight for survival is far more important than individual recognition following the club’s six-point deduction for breaching financial regulations.

The Foxes’ situation has worsened after the sanction, leaving them second from bottom with only eight matches remaining in the Championship season.

Despite recently winning the Sky Bet Championship Goal of the Month award for February, Fatawu insists personal achievements mean little if the team fails to secure its league status.

“I always try to score and give assists, so it is nice when your hard work pays off,” Fatawu said. “Everything we do on the pitch is to win, so we need to do better and keep working hard between now and the end of the season to make sure we stay in this league.”

The 22-year-old has been a standout performer in a challenging campaign, registering nine goals and seven assists in 37 appearances. His attacking contributions have been vital, even as the team continues to struggle near the bottom of the table.

Fatawu’s quality was highlighted by his recent award-winning strike against Birmingham City, but with relegation looming, the winger’s focus remains firmly on helping Leicester secure survival.
