Ghana’s national team coach, Otto Addo, has placed his trust in Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Frederick Asare for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Mali and the Central African Republic.
Asare’s stellar performances in the Ghana Premier League earned him the sole spot for a home-based player in the squad, showcasing the country’s reliance on local talent.
Despite the absence of other home-based players, Asare’s selection highlights the coaching staff’s confidence in his abilities.
However, the exclusion of captain Andre Ayew and left-back Baba Rahman has sparked discussions, especially given Ayew’s impressive form in the French Ligue 1.
The Black Stars will gather for training at the University of Ghana Stadium in Legon, gearing up for the crucial matches ahead.
With their eyes set on redemption after a mixed start to the campaign, Ghana aims to secure victories against Mali and the Central African Republic to bolster their World Cup aspirations.
