Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has expressed satisfaction with the pitch conditions at the Accra Sports Stadium as Ghana prepares for a crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Chad on Friday.
National Sports Authority (NSA) Director General Yaw Ampofo Ankrah confirmed the positive feedback after visiting the team alongside Sports Minister Kofi Adams on Monday. With just days to go before the match, the NSA is making final preparations to ensure the venue meets the required standards.
“We are working hard because a lot of emergency renovations are needed, but by game day, everything will be ready,” Ankrah assured.
Speaking on the pitch condition, he added, “We have just two more treatment sessions left based on the specifications given by the coach, and then it will be ready.”
Otto Addo has reportedly approved the pitch’s state, with minor adjustments expected before the match. “Coach Otto Addo has his strategy mapped out for Chad. He knows what he’s looking for, and from what I’ve heard, he is very happy with the pitch. Any necessary final touches will be communicated,” Ankrah stated.
Following the Chad encounter, Ghana will travel to Morocco to face Madagascar on March 24 in another crucial Group I qualifier.
