Black Stars striker Felix Afena-Gyan is optimistic of Ghana’s AFCON return despite a poor start to qualifiers for the 2027 edition.
The Black Stars suffered a 2-0 defeat to Ivory Coast in Bouake on Thursday, and will need to beat Gambia in their next match to enhance their qualification chances.
Having missed the last edition in Morocco, there is pressure on the former African champions who have won only one game in 2026.
Although, the team has been heavily criticised for the performance in Ivory Coast, the former AS Roma players believes the Black Stars will turn thing around against Gambia on Tuesday in Accra.
“Defeat hurts, but it teaches” he posted on his Facebook page.
The Squirrels of Gambia arrive in Ghana this weekend after winning their game against Somalia in Banjul.
This leaves Ghana bottom of Group C after a game in the run to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations to be held in East Africa.
The Black Stars will also face Morocco in an international friendly before the international window for September ends.
