Great Olympics earned their first victory of the 2025/26 Ghana Division One League season after seven tough matches, defeating WAFA SC 1–0 in an away fixture on Sunday.
Going into the game, the Accra-based side had struggled to find their rhythm, recording no wins in their opening six matches. However, they showed renewed determination at the Red Bull Arena in Sogakope, putting up a disciplined and energetic performance.
The only goal of the match came in the second half, giving Olympics a much-needed boost in their fight to climb up the Zone Three table. WAFA, known for their quick passing and youthful intensity, pushed hard for an equaliser but the visitors held firm until the final whistle.
The victory will come as a huge relief for Great Olympics supporters, who have been waiting for a positive turnaround in the team’s campaign. It also provides confidence and momentum as they prepare for their next league matches.
For WAFA SC, the loss is a setback, but their spirited display suggests they will remain competitive as the season progresses.
Great Olympics will now hope this breakthrough marks the beginning of better results in the challenging Division One League season.
