1. Kelvin Osei Asibey is the future
It’s very rare to see a defender combining old-school and new-school elements of defending. Kelvin Osei Asibey has got them in abundance as he was the name on football fans’ mouths at the Baba Yara Stadium. The young centre-back who joined Hearts of Oak fromTechiman Eleven Wonders is a gem. Kelvin is not a tall centre-back but won every ball he went for in the air. His timing tackles were great, he has great distribution skills, he is well composed on the ball and his aggression is out of this world. He might be at fault for Kotoko’s third but had the game of his life. The Bantama boy has what it takes to reach the top.
2. Hearts of Oak needs a permanent manager
Abdul Rahim Bashiru, Hearts of Oak’s interim manager is not up to the standard required to lead the team to success. He is tactically not up there and he cannot bring the best out of his lads. We are into the fourth week since Koopman was sacked and there is no sign that Hearts of Oak is preparing to appoint anyone to coach them.
3. Richmond Lamptey has the vision and composure to play for Black Stars
He was a five-star performer in the Super Clash. He reminded us of Kwadwo Asamoah. Lamptey’s calmness, ball control, ball retention and distribution is impeccable. Constant Calls for Black Stars call-up is right because he is a player that the national team lacks. He made Asante Kotoko look like a team that can win the league if he is fit for the rest of the season.
4. Hearts of Oak needs a goalkeeper
Richmond Ayi proved that he can’t be Hearts of Oak’s number 1 for the near future. Richmond looked very shaky when a ball was passed to him. He was at fault for Kotoko’s second and third goals as he showed that he could not be trusted. Richard Attah has lost his position to Ayi but a comeback for Attah will not be a surprise at all.
5. Prosper Narteh Ogum is the real deal
Prosper Narteh has silenced his critics. Talk of his sacking was all over the place when things were not going Kotoko’s way. The former WAFA tactician has proven to be the right person for the job as he has been able to steer Kotoko clear out of the storm. His tactics and formation were spot on yesterday as his team outclassed Hearts of Oak. His demeanour on the touchline showed that Poraper is in full control of affairs.
