Vincent Aboubakar has scored five goals in three matches at the ongoing 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon to equal a prod record held by the great Samuel Eto’o.
No other Cameroonian player has found the net more often during the same edition of the competition.
Aboubakar equals the record of the current President of the Cameroon Football Federation, Samuel Eto’o, who achieved the feat twice, in 2006 and 2008 as he scored 5 goals to win the Golden Boot award in both tournaments. Overall Eto’o has 18 goals at the AFCON finals – also a record at the competition.
And that’s not all. Aboubakar is also only the fourth Indomitable Lions player to have scored at least one goal in each of his three AFCON group matches after Roger Milla (1986), Alphonse Tchami (1998) and Samuel Eto’o (2006 & 2008).
