English-born Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo, was again in target for Bristol City who drew 2:2 against Preston North on Saturday afternoon in the EFL championship.

Chris Martin’s 13th-minute strike was cancelled out by Riis six minutes into the second half before Semenyo rifled in a shot from a narrowing angle.

But City were unable to hold on and Riis ensured the points were shared with a volley past O’Leary.

Manager Nigel Pearson made one change to the side that started against Luton Town in midweek with Timm Klose making his debut following his signing 48 hours earlier. Robbie Cundy came into the matchday squad for the first time.

Klose was composed on the ball at the back and was in the thick of the action early on with some head-tennis in the Lillywhites box.

City were full of the endeavour and intent that had marked recent performances and were rewarded in the 13th minute when Anetoine Semenyo found Andi Weimannn, who slipped the ball to Martin and he fired low past Sepp Van Den Berg.

The Robins had further chances with O’Dowda cutting back and firing over while Weimann missed the goal following Semenyo’s drive to the goal-line.

Preston gave O’Leary little trouble in the first half with Tomas Kalas outmuscling Cameron Archer and Riis shot easily gathered by the keeper.

Preston came out firing and City were forced into defending with Scott blocking a shot from substitute McCann and Archer firing over from long-range.

The equaliser came in the 51st minute when Archer’s shot was saved by O’Leary and Riis was first to the follow-up.

Joe Williams replaced O’Dowda after 64 minutes as City pressed forward for a second, which came in the 81st minute when Massengo threaded the ball through to Semenyo who smashed the ball past Iversen.

Zak Vyner and Robbie Cundy – making his City debut – were thrown on to bolster the defensive effort in place of Jay Dasilva and Alex Scott.

With five minutes added time Bristol City needed to close the game out but Preston kept pressing and when the ball came out to Riis who volleyed past O’Leary less than a minute before the final whistle.

Semenyo, 22, has four three goals and provided six assists so far this season for Bristol City.
