Bright Adjei deserves Black Stars call-up; fans call for his recognition after scoring 12 goals

Aduana Stars’ ‘notorious’ striker Bright Adjei has netted 12 goals in the ongoing 2021/2022 Ghana Premier League.

There have been some calls for the Ghana Football Association to naturalize Cameroonian striker Thiery Mbella who currently leads the top scorers chart with 13 goals. Some fans are of the view that considering the form guide of the prolific attacker, Ghana Black Stars would need his service more than his native country. Registering 13 goals in 14 matches is one commendable effort everyone salutes comparing the environment he is playing in as a foreigner whose first season has been wonderful so far.

However, another section believe that Thiery Mbella is an out-and-out attacker unlike Bright Adjei who although is a forward but doesn’t play deep like Thiery Mbella.

This comparison has been in the minds of many fans as most assert that many players who are called up to the national team are players who mostly do not even feature in their club matches on regular basis but are considered, all these are known factors which has contributed to the abysmal performances of the Black Stars recently.

Some local football supports making a case told our news team that attention has to be given to the local players who are performing like Bright Adjei and others who have shown that given the little opportunity they will deliver.

Speaking to new.sportsworldghana.com exclusively on Monday morning, the 27-year old said: “I am happy that the goals are coming but that won’t make me swollen-headed,”

“I strongly believe that very soon my time will come for me to get my ‘dream come true’ Black Stars invitation to serve my country. I am not worried that I am not getting the needed hype in the media but I am sure the technical team of the Black Stars is aware of my performance in the league.” Adjei told SportsworldGhana.com.

Bright Adjei has featured in 18 out of all the 19 games Aduana Stars have played so far this season in the Ghanaian domestic league. The only game he missed was on 26th December due to illness.
