Ghanaian goalkeeper Richard Ofori and striker Kwame Peprah, have secured qualification to the CAF Confederation Cup finals with South African club Orlando Pirates.

Parties booked their place in the CAF Confederation Cup final for the second time in their history after a 2-1 aggregate win over Al Ahli SC on Sunday evening.

Peprah and Ofori both started the game for Orlando Pirates and played a key role in the club’s historic qualification.

Pirates held a two-goal advantage coming into the return leg at Orlando Stadium and looked to soak up the pressure of Ahli clearly came with the intention to overturn the tie.

With close to 60% possession in the opening half with 10 shots at goal to Pirates’ two, it limited the home side to counter attacks through Deon Hotto and the livewire Thembinkosi Lorch.

Mid-way through the half they were handed a major boost when Happy Jele, who was adjudged to have handled the ball inside the area and conceded a penalty, saw the decision reversed by VAR.

It proved to be the reprieve the Buccaneers needed as they were brought back to life with supporters who braved the cold conditions to rally the Soweto giants.

In the second half, the likes of Kwame Peprah, Bandile Shandu and Hotto were guilty of spurning great chances before the hour mark.

Just as it looked like the Sea Robbers would see out the game comfortably the visitors pulled one back in the 89th minute when Ali Bouargoub scored with a deflected shot.

However, in the end Pirates progressed 2-1 on aggregate despite losing the game at Orlando Stadium on Sunday.

The Sea Robbers will now face TP Mazembe or RS Berkane in the final of the continental showpiece at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium next week Friday, 20, May in Uyo Nigeria.
