Ghana’s goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi suffered defeat in the 2021-22 Switzerland Cup on Sunday afternoon against FC Lugano.
The Ghanaian shot stopper was on the bench when his team suffered a 4-1 defeat in the final against the former club of Asumah Abubakar-Ankrah.
Zan Celar scored the first goal of the match to put Lugano in the lead after just four minutes to put the pressure on the Green and Whites outfit.
Matej Maglica restored parity to make it 1-1 halfway through the first half of the match.
Olivier Custodio gave the Black and Whites outfit the lead before going into the break with a 44th minute strike.
Lugano scored two again in the second half to beat Ati-Zigi’s team 4-1 to lift the trophy.
This is the second consecutive time Ati-Zigi and his team have loss the Switzerland Cup in two years.
The Ghanaian international was an unused substitute as his side suffered a humiliating defeat in the final and missed out on a trophy once again.
