Former American youth midfielder of Ghanaian descent Derrick Jones Amaniampong has signed a new contract with MLS club Charlotte FC.
Jones’ initial deal with Charlotte FC was supposed to end on December 31, 2022 but he has now signed a fresh one-year contract until 2023.
The 25-year-old defensive midfielder has been a revelation in the centre of the pitch for Charlotte FC this season so far playing 19 games and scoring one goal.
Jones was born in Kumasi but grew up in USA and has already played for the Yankees at the U-20 and U-23 levels.
He is still eligible to play for Ghana at senior level.
