Ghana legend Sulley Muntari has asked the Ghana Football Association not to be too concerned with prayers ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup tournament.

The former AC Milan midfielder says the fasting and prayers being held for the Black Stars won’t work and has rather advised the GFA on what to do to ensure a successful tournament.

According to him, the senior national team needs more effort to be able to perform at the World stage later this month instead of concentrating on prayers.

He says prayers and fasting may work but the team must work hard and the luck will come for them to be able to excel at the FIFA Mundial this month in Qatar.

“Let’s hope, not pray, because prayers don’t do anything. You need to be in the effort. Work hard and the luck will come with it.”

“The prayer will also help, but if you sit there and say we should fast and pray for the Black Stars, isn’t God close to Israel?” he told Dan Kwaku Yeboah TV.

The Ghana Football Association has been on a praying spree for the Black Stars in hopes the team excels at the World Cup in Qatar.

Muntari played at all the three world cup tournaments Ghana participated in, that is the 2006, 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cup tournaments and scored against Czech Republic and Uruguay in 2006 and 2010 respectively.
