Southampton manager Nathan Jones believes the addition of Kamaldeen Sulemana to the team would have an impact on their performances in the remainder of the season.

The Saints confirmed the signing of the Black Stars forward on deadline day for a club record fee as he decided to end his stay with Stade Rennes due to his lack of game time.

After 20 rounds of games, Southampton languishes in the 20th position in the league with 15 points and would need an upliftment in terms of performance if they are to beat the drop.

Jones characterised the 20-year-old Ghanaian’s acquisition as a favourable hire that will invigorate their offensive strategy.

“This is another really positive addition for us this month,” Jones said after the deal was concluded.

“We’ve obviously been keen to add a little more potency to the side, and Kamaldeen is someone who does that for us.

“He’s at a stage in his career where we feel he can help us in the immediate term, but also continue to grow and develop further into the future.”

At the moment, Kamaldeen awaits his work permit in order to get straight into business with his new club.
