‘Let’s be patient and support the team’ – Asamoah Gyan on current Black Stars squad

Asamoah Gyan, the Ghanaian football legend and all-time leading goal scorer for the country, has called for patience and support for the newly assembled technical team and the Black Stars.

The team, under the guidance of new head coach Chris Hughton, secured their first win under his leadership against Angola at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Despite the slow movement and the unfavorable weather conditions, AFC Bournemouth striker Antoine Semenyo scored the only goal of the game in the 96th minute to maintain their perfect start in the qualifiers.

Gyan, who played in the 2006, 2010, and 2014 World Cups, believes that the team needs time to develop and for the new coach to build a cohesive unit. He emphasized the importance of securing the three points, despite not having the best of games.

“The players were under immense pressure, the weather condition was not favorable for them so you could see they were struggling, their movement was a bit slow but the most important thing is getting the victory,” he told Kumasi-based Akoma FM.

“It’s a gradual process, we have a new coach who is building a team, for me, I think securing the three points was the most important thing although we didn’t have the best of games in football, a win is the most important thing.

“Let’s support and be patient with the team,” he added.

Ghana now tops Group E with 7 points after three games and will face Angola again in the matchday four game on Monday, March 27, seeking to end their four-year Afcon trophy drought.
