‘Danlad Ibrahim needs rest at Kotoko to avoid disgrace’ – Ex-Ghana goalkeeper Joe Carr

Former Ghanaian goalkeeper Joe Carr has advised Kotoko’s goalkeeper, Ibrahim Danlad, to take a break and regain his form. According to Carr, Danlad is a talented goalkeeper who ranks among the top two in Ghana, but he needs to rest and allow other goalkeepers to take over his position.

Carr believes that if he were in Danlad’s situation, he would ask to be benched to regain his energy and form.

“Danlad is a national goalkeeper. He is a very good goalkeeper who ranks among the best two goalkeepers in Ghana but he must rest and allow others to keep the post. I would’ve asked to be benched if I was him to regain my energy and form.”

“He has to rest to save himself from the disgrace of conceding a lot of goals. He is not the only goalkeeper in the team. I have been a goalkeeper and I have been in his situation before and my advice to him is to rest and come back fresh.”

Danlad has been inconsistent this season, having missed the team’s previous five matches before returning on Friday, where he conceded three goals against Berekum Chelsea.

Despite sharing the position with Frederick Asare for most of the season, Carr believes that Danlad needs more time on the sidelines to regain his momentum.

Danlad has played for the Black Galaxies in the African Nations Championship and was also named in Ghana’s World Cup squad for the tournament in Qatar last year.

He also played for the Black Meteors in the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Algeria last month, where Ghana secured a spot for the upcoming tournament in Morocco.
