Former NPP General Secretary Kwabena Adjei Agyapong has bashed the Ghana Football Association’s decision to introduce futsal football in Ghana rather than focus on making the Premier League better.
The inaugural season of the Futsal Premier League was announced by the GFA on Tuesday, April 11, at its Secretariat.
The inaugural Futsal league has sixteen clubs signed up to compete, and the first match took place last weekend.
However, Agyapong says he doesn’t know the idea behind playing futsal football when the main football can’t be improved.
“I was a bit surprised to hear from the FA and they’re talking about some five-a-side football when our main football is destroyed,” Agyapong said with Luv FM.
“We should rebuild our game, why waste our energy on Futsal, what’s that supposed to be? In my view, football is the mainstream and right now the community’s connection with football has disappeared because a lot of the teams are now individuals. They are owned by individuals with no support base. That’s where we need to focus”.
