Despite the recurring inconsistencies of the Hearts of Oak team, board member Alhaji Akambi has praised the players’ performance this season.
To support his claim, the football administrator drew a comparison between the Phobians and Chelsea of the English Premier League, who have also struggled despite spending millions to recruit players.
Akambi refused to criticize misfiring striker Yassan Ouatching for his inability to score this season, opting to focus on the team’s overall effort. He expressed satisfaction with the players’ performance, stating, “They (Hearts of Oak players) are doing well.”
“They (Hearts of Oak players) are doing well. Chelsea spent a lot of money to buy all the players in Europe and now see them,” Alhaji Akambi said in an interview as quoted by Footballghana.
Ouatching was recruited by Hearts of Oak as a goal-scoring machine for the team this season. Unfortunately, he has failed to live up to expectations, as he has been unable to find the back of the net all season.
According to reports, his contract is likely to be terminated at the end of the 2022/23 football season.
