Kojo Yankah, the Chairman of the Western Regional RFA and a prominent journalist, has announced his intention to run for the presidency of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
With a wealth of experience in football administration, Yankah aims to lead Ghanaian football and has officially declared his candidacy for the upcoming presidential election, which is scheduled for October.
In an exclusive interview with HappySports, Yankah expressed his readiness and desire to make a lasting impact on Ghanaian football. He believes that it is time for a new administration to take charge of the GFA and restore the dwindling love for the sport.
Yankah stated, “I am very ready and it is time for me to also leave a mark on Ghana Football. It is time for a new administration to take over affairs at the GFA and I am the right person. The love for Ghana football is not there anymore and I am the one to bring it back.”
Yankah’s entry into the presidential race makes him the second contender challenging the incumbent Kurt Okraku, who is seeking re-election.
Having previously served as a member of the Black Stars management committee and held various positions within the GFA during Kwesi Nyantakyi’s presidency, Yankah possesses a notable background in football administration. He is a well-known figure in the realm of football management.
During his eight-year tenure as the Chairman of the Western Region Football Association, succeeding the late Lee Yankey, Yankah showcased his leadership skills. Additionally, he held a position as an Executive Committee member of the GFA, further solidifying his experience and expertise in the field of football administration.
