After receiving a heartfelt retirement message, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the legendary Swedish footballer, expressed his gratitude towards Enoch Kofi Adu, the Ghanaian midfielder.

Ibrahimovic recently announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 41, just prior to AC Milan’s final match of the season against Hellas Verona. The news prompted an outpouring of well-wishes from fellow athletes and clubs, including a touching message from Ghana’s former U17 star, Kofi Adu.

“It was a blessing sharing some of your career in soccer with you, it was a privilege to play on the same pitch against you, it’s was an honor to share moment with you legend, your legacy lives on, enjoy your retirement Zlatan Ibrahimovic,” wrote the Ghanaian footballer on social media.

In response to Adu’s words, Ibrahimovic conveyed his appreciation with a gesture of gratitude. Though the exact nature of his response was not specified, it demonstrated the footballer’s recognition of the kind sentiment expressed by the Ghanaian midfielder.

The paths of these two players crossed during their respective careers. Adu, now 32 years old, had the opportunity to compete against Ibrahimovic in the UEFA Champions League while representing Malmo FF. While Adu currently plays for Ekenas IF in Finland, he spent a significant portion of his career in Sweden, featuring for clubs such as Mjallby, AIK Stockholm, and Malmo.

Ibrahimovic’s acknowledgement of Adu’s retirement message highlights the mutual respect and camaraderie that exists among players, transcending borders and nationalities in the world of football.
