Nora Hauptle, the coach of Ghana’s women’s national team, the Black Queens, expressed her delight with her team’s commanding performance in the 2024 Olympic Games qualifying first-round return match against Guinea.

The Black Queens secured a resounding 4-0 victory over their West African counterparts at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Evelyn Badu showcased her goal-scoring prowess with two well-taken goals, while Princella Adubea and substitute Firdaus Yakuba also made valuable contributions to the scoresheet.

In her post-match statement, Hauptle praised her team’s progress compared to their previous encounter with Guinea. She highlighted the improved quality of the pitch, which allowed better ball possession for the Black Queens.

“We levelled up against the first leg in Guinea. The pitch was much better, so our possession [of the ball] was good,” Hauptle said.

“We didn’t allow them to have counterattacks. We had a big dominance on the pitch.

“The only thing I would say is that maybe we should have scored a bit more goals out of these chances.”

With this victory, Ghana advances to the second round, where they will face Benin in October.
