The head coach of Asante Kotoko, Prosper Narteh Ogum, has solidified his commitment to the club through a substantial long-term contract, thanks to an arrangement overseen by Asantehene.

Ogum, aged 45, had previously steered the Porcupines to triumph in the Ghana Premier League during the 2021/22 season. His departure from the club before the subsequent season’s commencement, characterized by discord with the then management, had stirred controversy.

Following his official reappointment and unveiling on Monday, August 7, 2023, Ogum’s association with Kotoko has been further solidified by a long-term deal granted by the club’s Life Patron, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, during a visit to the Manhyia Palace to meet the revered monarch.

“I have instructed the IMC to grant Ogum the autonomy to select his own players. I have also conveyed to him that if he independently chooses his players and faces unsuccessful outcomes, I will personally take the responsibility to remove him. However, if his player selections thrive without interference, then he can be here for more than 20 years to work,” stated Otumfuo.

Ogum’s mandate, as assigned by Otumfuo, extends beyond the immediate term, focusing on nurturing a formidable team capable of excelling both in domestic and international competitions in the years ahead.

Guided by this visionary directive, Ogum will join forces with Coach David Ocloo and Wilson Burton Asare, his deputy coaches, in their shared mission to guide the Porcupines towards the coveted Ghana Premier League title, with the pinnacle of achievement expected in the culmination of the 2023/24 football season.
