Ghanaian striker Jordan Ayew is determined to help the nation secure qualification for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Ivory Coast.
The Crystal Palace forward has been included in head coach Chris Hughton’s 25-man squad for the final qualifier against Central African Republic in Kumasi on Thursday, September 7.
As of now, the Black Stars are leading Group E with 9 points, two points ahead of the visiting team, with five games played. To secure a spot in the postponed tournament scheduled for next year, Ghana needs either a draw or a win in this crucial match.
Jordan Ayew, who has had a strong start in the English Premier League for Palace, expressed his thoughts during an interview with Radio Gold Sports.
“The most important thing is that we should qualify and after we see, the most important thing is [the] qualification”
“We are not yet qualified, the most important thing is for us to qualify and when the time comes, we see.” Jordan Ayew told Radio Gold Sports.
The Black Stars, who have won the Africa Cup of Nations four times in the past, are currently facing a 41-year drought in terms of championship victories and will be eager to secure the coveted continental title under the leadership of coach Hughton.
