Ghanaian defender Tariq Lamptey has been named the Man of the Match in the Europa League clash between Brighton and Hove Albion and Olympique Marseille.
The versatile full-back delivered a standout performance as the English team rallied from a two-goal deficit to secure a 2-2 draw at the Stade Velodrome in France.
Lamptey garnered 47.9% of the votes, clinching the award ahead of competitors Pascal Gross, Jan Paul Van Hecke, and Joel Veltman.
The 23-year-old, who recently returned from injury, has been in exceptional form for the Seagulls, earning his second Man of the Match accolade after a previous win against Manchester United in the English Premier League.
In an exhilarating Thursday night encounter, Chancel Mbemba and Jordan Veretout scored in quick succession to give Marseille a two-goal lead. However, Brighton mounted a comeback in the second half, with Pascal Gross converting a penalty and Joao Pedro netting the equalizer just two minutes before the final whistle.
Lamptey’s impressive performances have earned him a place in the Black Stars squad for the upcoming international friendlies against the USA and Mexico next week.
