Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has revealed that midfielder Thomas Partey will be eligible for selection in the upcoming game against Manchester City on Sunday.
Partey has recently recovered from an injury that had sidelined him since August 26, and he was included in the squad that traveled to France for the UEFA Champions League match against RC Lens. Despite his availability, the 30-year-old remained an unused substitute as Arsenal suffered a 2-1 defeat to the French team.
Arteta has now confirmed that the Ghanaian international may play a part in the highly anticipated clash against the reigning English champions.
“Well, he’s ahead of schedule, that’s for sure. We wanted to have him in the squad if we needed to. The way the game unfolded, we had other priorities, and we didn’t utilize him. However, he will be included in the squad tomorrow,” Arteta stated during the pre-match press conference.
Following his return to fitness, Partey is set to make a comeback to the national team and has been named in the squad for the upcoming international friendlies against the USA and Mexico next week.
