Match venues in the southern zone will witness some exciting fixtures when the 2023/2024 Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League season kicks start this weekend.

Zonal Champions Hasaacas ladies will play away to returnees Sea Lions at the Nduom sports stadium. There is a regional derby to look ahead to at Mankessim where Lady strikers make a short trip  to play Essiam Socrates ladies.

Elsewhere in Accra, Police Ladies and Army ladies will battle it out in the SERVICE derby.

SEA LIONS VRS HASAACAS LADIES

Sea Lions welcome Hasaacas Ladies on the opening day of the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League at the Ndoum Stadium on Saturday. Lions returns to the league after a year absence.

Daniel Nii Adjei’s side will seek to pick the maximum points having posed a great deal of threat to Hasaacas Ladies in times past.

Hasaacas Ladies on the other hand will leave no stone unturned even though they could not win the League title  last season.

ESSIAM SOCRATES VRS LADY STRIKERS

Cape Coast Lady Strikers will make a short trip to the Mankessim to play as guest of Essiam Socrates in a highly anticipated regional DERBY. Their highly anticipated clash at the same venue failed to produce a winner as the game ended in stalemate. Lady Strikers have in their fold ex black Princesses coach Ben Fokuo and it is expected that his experience will be impacted on the game.Discovery of the year Ellen Alormenu is expected to headline the game.

POLICE LADIES FC VS ARMY LADIES FC

The Achimota School park will witness a service derby when Police Ladies host Army ladies in the battle of supremacy. Army Ladies will be looking forward to capitalizing on their recent triumph in the Women’s Super Cup as they come up against one of their bitterest  rivals whilst Police Ladies also push to replicate their triumph in the Women’s FA Cup  final.

Prior to the start of the season, both sides have made some significant changes to their teams, keeping them in good shape for the task ahead with the presence of some new talented youngsters.

FAITH LADIES VRS BERRY LADIES

Dansoman based Faith Ladies will host Berry Ladies at the Carl Reindorf Park in their quest to win the title this season.

The host will try to silence Berry Ladies, a side they lost to in the Women’s Super Cup to let the bronze medal slip away.

Berry Ladies were fourth in the Southern Zone with 30 points, while Faith Ladies ended third with 34 points last season.

Both teams have intensified their preseason preparations and this fixture will be an interesting game as they look to improve on their performance in the previous season.

JONINA LADIES VRS SOCCER INTELLECTUALS

Soccer Intellectuals will slug it out with debutants Jonina FC on the opening day of the season.

It would be a cracker between the two sides who would be in search of all three points to begin the season successfully.

Jonina ladies were champions in the Division one championship playoff and with the introduction of a new head coach, the host will prove a tough opponent for Soccer intellectuals. Soccer Intellectuals on the other hand finished seventh in the Southern Zone table last season, and are confident of cruising over Jonina Ladies FC to stake a claim in the new season.
