Nora Hauptle, the head coach of the Black Queens, emphasized the challenges posed by Benin despite their 3-0 victory in the second round of the 2024 Olympic Games qualifier in Cotonou.
The Swiss coach acknowledged that Benin proved to be a formidable opponent, playing with a compact defensive setup, which was expected from a strong team.
Nora expressed her satisfaction with her team’s performance at the Friendship Stadium in Cotonou, where they secured a 3-0 victory.
“We have won this game 3-0. It was very intense for the players and also for us, the staff. It was expected from a strong opponent,” she said.
“They caused us some challenges because they are a very good defending team and compact in the block.
“We operated very focused with very good control of the game; a very good mixture between playing constructively and also releasing some long balls.”
The goals for the Black Queens were scored by Doris Boaduwaa from the penalty spot in the 45th minute, followed by a five-minute brace by Grace Assifuah.
