Medeama’s coach, Evans Adotey, anticipated in advance that Hearts of Oak would seek revenge for their 5-1 defeat to his team last season when they faced off in their midweek clash.
The Phobians had experienced a 5-1 defeat at the Accra Sports Stadium to Medeama, which had marked the start of the Yellow and Mauves’ successful title-winning campaign.
On Wednesday, the two teams met once again at the same venue during matchweek 8 of the Ghana Premier League, with Hearts of Oak emerging victorious with a 3-1 scoreline.
Reflecting on the match, Medeama’s coach, Adotey, stated, “I knew that Hearts of Oak fans and the club itself would be eager to avenge the 5-1 scoreline from last season. I knew it wasn’t going to be easy for me, and that’s exactly what happened.”
He further acknowledged that the game did not begin well for his team, with three goals conceded in the first half. Although they made a comeback and held on until the final whistle, Adotey believed that had they started the game better, the final scoreline might have been different.
”I didn’t start the game well. (Conceding) three goals in the first half and then coming back and then holding on till the final whistle meant that if I had started the game well, the results wouldn’t have been this score line.”
