Ghana’s Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton is hoping for a better display against Comoros on Tuesday evening away from home in the second game of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

In the aftermath of a slow start at the Baba Yara Stadium in the 2026 World Cup qualifier against Madagascar, Coach Chris Hughton is optimistic about harnessing the momentum from Ghana’s second-half resurgence. The Black Stars, buoyed by an impressive display, clinched a crucial victory with Inaki Williams’ last-minute header securing all three points.

Hughton, reflecting on the match, underscores the significance of the team’s second-half performance. He expresses hope that the positive energy and resilience demonstrated in the latter part of the game will carry over to their upcoming clash against Comoros scheduled for Tuesday.

“The importance of the win is massive. We would have loved to have done it more comfortably in the first half but that’s football. All you look is to get some momentum from this. We all hope that the momentum from the second half will be taken into Comoros.” Hughton said after the game.

As Ghana readies itself for the encounter with Comoros, there’s a lingering memory of disappointment from their previous meeting during the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). In that encounter, Ghana suffered a 3-2 defeat in the final group game, leading to their elimination from the tournament. This setback is considered by many as one of Ghana’s most disappointing performances in the history of the AFCON.

The upcoming match against Comoros, therefore, not only represents an opportunity for redemption but also a chance for Ghana to showcase the resilience and lessons learned from past challenges. Hughton and the team aim to turn the page and forge ahead with renewed determination in pursuit of success on the road to the 2026 World Cup.
